Family historyLorraine Schoen was born on September 21st, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. She lived in Detroit on Phillip Street for several years before moving with to her grandparents' farm on Hickey Road in Chesterfield Twp., Michigan. She graduated from New Haven High School in 1944 and Business School in 1945. Over the years, she held numerous jobs. While working at the Michigan Central Railroad in Detroit during WWII, she played the organ during the Christmas holidays in the main terminal.
Anthony Hengesbach was born on March 12th, 1929 in Detroit and grew up on Hengesbach Drive in Clinton Twp., Michigan. He graduated from St. Louis Catholic School in 1947, and he served in the US Army from 1951-1953 and was stationed in Korea. He worked for General Motors Corporation. Lorraine and Anthony were married April 7th, 1956 in New Baltimore, Michigan. Together they have two children, including Vicky (Sixth Generation). They currently reside in the home they built in 1960 in Macomb Twp., Michigan. |
Language HistoryThe Northern City Vowel Shift began its full effect by the 1960s when the rest of the vowels followed a shifting pattern. This shift is explained in the picture above and in the video at the right.
